Hello Pack 73!!
Important dates to remember:
Each Memorial Day season, the Troop replaces the flags of all the veterans in the cemeteries here in Ephrata, and our Cub Scout Pack helps them. The Troop has not yet set aside a date to do this, but they're looking at a week night during the week of May 19th. Depending upon how many boys turn out, this shouldn't take more than 2 hours. I will notify you all immediately once the Troop calls me with a date. This WILL count as a Summertime Activity.
Saturday, May 17 - Raingutter Regatta!!! 10:00 AM at the church. The Cubs will be making a boat, and racing them down raingutters filled with water. LOADS of fun! See you there!!
PS - Have your Camp Money ready too!! Mr. Foster will be ready to collect it for you. If you have any questions regarding Cub Bucks, let either me or Mrs. Jefferson know (lakj@ptd.net).
No Den meetings 5-19-08 or 5-26-08 unless your Den Leader specifies otherwise.
Thursday June 6 - Roundtable at Camp Mack for Leaders and Scout Personnel. This the end of their season, and they'll be having a cookout with all sorts of Scouters from all over the area preparing special dishes on the campfire - along with the recipe. Let me know if you'll be joining me!!
Monday June 16- Scavenger Hunt for the Webelos and soon-to-be Bears, Fun Day for the soon-to-be Wolves! Meet at the church at 6:00 PM, and bring a bottle of drinking water. You'll need it! CHANGED FROM JUNE 9TH
Sunday 6-22-08 - Dutch Apple Dinner Theater is presenting "Zoro"! Pack 73 will be paying for one adult and one Cub. Any person after that is $14.00 per person. This includes buffet dinner, and is "kid friendly" with all sorts of kid-style foods. Please contact Mr. Zerbe if you need to pay for anybody that our Pack isn't already paying for at 513-0078.
All of July - Camp Kcamelot at Camp Mack. Because all of our dens will be going to camp during different weeks, we won't be planning a pack activity. Again, have camp money ready by 5-17-08.
Saturday August 2 - Barnstormers Sleepover!!! Woo hoo! Sooooooo much fun! Pack 73 will be paying for one adult and one Cub. All extras are $15.00 per person. This includes your box seat, parade, game, movie on the field screen, sleepover, and morning activities. Gates open at 4:30 but the game doesn't start until 7:05. There will be a Scout parade prior to the game so we'll have to all get there at 5:30. Bring camping gear but don't plan on sleeping much. Have your payment ready, if any, by the Regatta on the 17th! Questions? Let me know!

Hello Pack 73!!
Here's what happened during our Committee Meeting on Monday night:
All candy money is due immediately.
If you haven't submitted your application and $25.00 deposit for Camp Mack summer camp, you must do so on or before 3-10-08 - that's this Monday. We need to reserve our spots right now because they're filling up fast. Please respond to Mr. Foster ASAP. He can be reached at 738-1464.
No Den meeting on Monday the 10th unless your leader has specified that you are doing something.
No meeting on the 24th. No school=no meetings.
Pack Meeting on the 31st!
Want to earn more Cub Bucks?!! We will be selling candy at Walmart and Kmart on April 5 and 12. Mrs. Joerger will be passing around a sign up sheet. More info to follow. Mark your calendars now!
On Saturday, April 26, we will be doing a clean up project on Seglock Road, which is also a wildlife sanctuary. Please be prepared to arrive at the church at 8:30 AM so that we can all drive together. Please arrive with garbage bags, gloves, weather appropriate clothing, and please wear your Class A uniforms! This is a great opportunity for your cub to earn a LOT of his outdoor achievements, Conservation Awards, etc. Plan to attend.
We discussed our Summer Program, and so far, it looks very exciting! In the works are a kick off picnic, the Barnstormer sleepover 8-2-08, a scavenger hunt, a possible trip to the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater to see Zoro, and of course, Cub Scout Camp at Camp Mack.
Family Camp at Camp Mack is on May 9-10. This is a weekend to help some cubs and families become familiar with the camp before spending numerous days there this summer. Information has not been sent out yet, but mark your calendars now. More information to follow.
In the meantime, keep working with your cub to help him earn his rank and beltloops. He cannot earn it without you. Besides, it's fun!
Any questions? Let me know!! 669-2461.

Hello Cub Scout Families!!
At our next Pack meeting this coming Monday, your cub scout will be receiving, as a Christmas gift from Pack 73, his derby car kit. You and your cub scout will have over a month to make the car and get it ready for the Pinewood Derby on 1-19-08.
In an effort to help those who have never done this before, on Monday 1-7-08, the Tiger Dens and the Bear Den will be having a Derby Clinic. The Webelos and Wolves will have theirs on 1-14-08, even though we are not scheduled to meet on the 14th.
A Derby Clinic is where a cub scout comes to the church with his car, draws how he wants it shaped, and then someone-a cub scout parent- shapes it for him on the tools that he/she brings along. The cub sands it there, and takes it home to paint it and put on weights. Parents who have tools and know how to use them are invited to attend on both nights to help cubs who need it.
If you are a parent who has the tools to shape the cars and can help other cubs, PLEASE plan to help on both 1-7-08 and 1-14-08. We need all the help and tools we can get.
Den Leaders, please notify your parents who don't have e-mail.
See you Monday!

Raking Leaves At the Ephrata Cloister
Hello Pack 73!!
On Sunday November 4 and Sunday December 2 from 1 to 4 PM, our pack and
numerous other packs and troops will be raking leaves at the Ephrata
Cloister. The Cloister is a non-profit historic site that only has two
people on staff to take care of their grounds. This is an annual event.
Bring rakes, gloves, and wear Class A (field) uniforms. As this historic
site is on busy Route 322, we will be very visible to the public, allowing
our scouts to be seen working in the community.
Afterwards, the staff of the Ephrata Cloister may give us all a free tour.
This tour completes some requirements for cub scout ranks, and the community
services provides many scouts with the service hours they need.
Please plan to come to either one or both events.
Sincerely,
Staci Baker

Flags
I just received word from the Scoutmaster of the Troop that we will be
placing flags on the cemetery grave stones on Saturday 5-12-07 at 9:00
AM. This is done to commemorate the Memorial Day Holiday as well as our
brave American soldiers who have served, and even died, to keep our Nation
free. We will all meet at the First United Methodist Church where we
always meet. We will also be replacing the broken and damaged markers.
After the flags are collected, they will be taken to the American Legion
to be burned at a later date in a patriotic ceremony.
The rain date for this event is 5-26-07 at 9:00 AM, and in true "Scouter's"
fashion, by rain, we mean rain. If it's misting or sprinkling, we
will still do the flag placement on the 12th.
Please come in your dress Class A uniforms as the press may be there as
well. Each Cub Scout will be paired with a Boy Scout from the Troop, and
parents are encouraged to come along. No group will be unsupervised.
We look forward to seeing you on the 12th!!
